Wash and go
When it’s warmer in the summer months, try giving your diffuser the day off and letting your curls air dry. Renée Gadar, Aveda Global Artistic Director of Texture, shares her expert wash-and-go routine, in four easy steps.
Step 1: Shampoo
Perfectly-defined curls start in the shower. Begin with be curlytm shampoo or be curlytm co-wash. For be curlytm shampoo, massage into hair and rinse. For be curlytm co-wash, apply a generous amount onto wet hair from mid-length to ends, then work toward the roots. Massage into your scalp and make sure you’ve completely covered your curls, then rinse. Repeat if needed.
Renée says it’s important to apply styling products in sections, to ensure even distribution and give a more controlled finish. Her pro tip? The tighter the curl, the smaller the section. If you have 3A hair, three large sections will do. If 4C is your hair type, then you’ll want to create 6-8 sections.
Dispense be curlytm curl enhancer into your hand and work through waves, curls or coils one section at a time. Renée recommends raking hair with fingers and tightly pressing your fingers as you move through the hair, in order to create the best definition.
