Mission of care for the world.

Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products
we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive
to set an example for environmental leadership and responsibility, not just
in the world of beauty, but around the world.

Horst Rechelbacher, Founder

As the first company to sign the Ceres Principles in 1989, we have long supported
helping tackle some of the world’s biggest sustainability challenges, including climate
change, water scarcity and pollution, and inequitable workplaces.

We partner with over 100 nonprofit and NGOs
around the world.

These collaborations fall into three categories.

Clean water.

Community story.

Clean water gives people time back
in their lives. For Maya Devi, that
time means precious time for family.
For her daughter Sarmila, it means
time for education. And overall, it
means time for each other. Hear from
both of them how clean water changes

Mission Partnerships.

Community, human rights, preserving and enhancing biodiversity, and helping mitigate climate
change. Our mission partnerships address some of the biggest issues facing our planet today,
on top of a commitment to ensuring safe and protected water on a local level.

We believe in a collaborative model, utilizing on-the-ground expertise, working directly
with local communities, and listening to their needs to lead to lasting solutions.

The Yawanawá.

A 32 year ecosystem protection partnership
with the Yawanawá people of northern Brazil.

Additional partnerships.
