The numbers are in and it’s with enormous gratitude that we share the results of the Aveda Earth Month 2016 campaign— and the collective result of our efforts over the years. Since 1999, Aveda artists, salon owners and guests have helped raise an incredible $50M with $44M protecting clean water at home and around the world*. For 2016, the total contribution alone was $6.4 million dollars.

Your generous creativity, time, efforts and extraordinary passion are awe-inspiring! A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who contributed to helping preserve the planet and ensure clean water for all. Congratulations!

Below is a look at a few of the 2016 worldwide fundraising initiatives:

CATWALKS FOR WATER

Numerous Catwalks For Water events were held throughout the world. These beautiful and innovative shows highlighted the creativity and artistry of Aveda Artists and students alike, all while raising awareness for clean water initiatives.

Above, in Japan, Catwalks for Water, the first-ever produced by concept salons in Japan, was held at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo, during the biggest eco event in the city — Earth Day Tokyo 2016. Led by Aveda Japan Purefessional™ Masa Honda, six models showcased the stunning looks made of old Aveda Shammy Cloths, perming rods, umbrellas, Aveda Hair Color tubes and boxes, and more.

Aveda Canada raised a breathtaking total of $585,000, exceeding its goal. All funds raised were donated to WaterAid Canada.

Salon Events

Salons throughout the world got creative to engage their clients and staff, all to raise money and awareness for Aveda’s Earth Month initiative.

Once her hair was cut, she then donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs to children across the UK who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

A big fan of cycling, salon owner Gina Conway cycled 54 miles in the Surrey Hills to raise money for Earth Month partner WaterAid United Kingdom. This was one of many efforts that Gina and her staff and clients of Gina Conway Salons made for the month. Other events included numerous Walks for Water, salon raffles and bake sales.
