Denise'S AVEDA STORY Growing up watching and admiring her mother’s work as a hair stylist, a young Denise could be found cutting and styling her Barbies’ hair. She eventually moved on to friends and family and then decided to pursue a cosmetology career immediately after graduating high school.

Shortly after receiving her cosmetology license in 2006 from Artistic Academy in Morris Plains, Denise heard that Fringe was opening. Denise approached and then apprenticed Owner and Master Stylist, Kim Hammer, as well as Color Specialist, Bryan Thompson for a year, before earning her spot behind the chair. She also received extensive training with the Aveda Institute to advance her knowledge with the Aveda color/cutting system and product line. After four very creative and fulfilling years at Fringe, Denise made a move to Galveston, TX.

She spent seven years working for intercouiffure artist, Lulu Benavidez at Lulu’s the Salon and Spa. Denise loved the range of work, styling clients who were bold and daring and clients wanting looks that were more conservative and refined. She mastered the art of upstyling with Aquage and learned methods of hairpainting with Sunlights Balayage.

Now with 12 years of experience, Denise has found her way back home. She has rejoined the Fringe family after returning to NJ with her partner, twin toddlers and dog. Denise truly loves every aspect of coloring, cutting and styling alike! She's especially excited to continue her passion for hair in environmentally conscious ways at Fringe.
